• For new student enrollment, registering for lessons at any time during a session is allowed—tuition will be prorated.
• Please make a commitment to complete a session [8 lessons] as there are no refunds, credits applied to the following session, or rate adjustments due to missing a lesson, terminating lessons, scheduling conflicts, running late, or sickness due to the stomach flu or cold.
• Private lessons are taught in Susan’s home studio or in the student’s home.
• Make-up lessons are provided (or a refund/credit applied at the end of the current session period or a credit applied to the following session period) in circumstances such as an illness other than the flu or cold, a car accident or hospitalization of a student or an immediate family member.
• Private lessons are scheduled around your summer vacation trips. Just let Susan know your vacation dates before the summer session begins & before payment—she will either make a rate adjustment or schedule some of the lessons on days that are convenient for you.
• For lessons cancelled by the instructor, a make-up lesson is scheduled. If a make-up lesson is not an option, a refund is provided at the end of the current session or a credit is applied to the following session period.
• If lessons are in your home, please allow a 10-minute leeway before and after the time Susan’s scheduled to arrive. At times, due to unforeseen circumstances, Susan isn’t able to arrive on time.
• All ages, including senior citizens, are welcome! Beginning to late intermediate levels in piano are taught; beginning to intermediate levels in Music Theory. Susan teaches many styles of music which include: Classical, Smooth Jazz, Pop, New Age, Soft Rock, Broadway, Christian, Country, etc.
• Lessons are positive and encouraging. Susan gives the young student freedom to ask questions and to be creative. Students choose some of the projects incorporated into the lesson plan while Susan guides them towards attainable goals.
• For adult students, Susan provides support and guidance as the student maps out a personal journey towards his/her musical endeavors.
• Children need to behave in an appropriate manner or they will be dismissed early from their lesson.
• Personal checks or cash are accepted. In the event of a returned check, a $35.00 fee is charged. Checks are payable to Susan E. Pound or A Joyful Voice.
• A tuned acoustic piano or a full-sized keyboard with weighted keys is essential for improving skill and providing motivation and success.
